Terms of use

The rules for using this website and downloading DiffScope, in plain English. The software itself is covered by the DiffScope Freeware License.

Effective

Agreement

These terms apply to the website at diffscope-app.pages.dev (the “website”), published by DiffScope (“we”, “us”). By using the website or downloading DiffScope from it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

The DiffScope software

The DiffScope desktop app (the “Software”) is licensed, not sold, under the DiffScope Freeware License. In summary:

You may

  • download DiffScope for free;
  • install and use it, free of charge, on computers you own or control;
  • link to this website and its download page.

You may not

  • redistribute, sell, rent or host copies of DiffScope, for example on other download sites;
  • modify it or create derivative works;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law expressly allows it.

This summary is for convenience only. If it differs from the license text, the license text applies. Third-party components shipped with DiffScope (Electron and Chromium) are covered by their own licences, listed on the license page.

Using this website

You may browse the website, read and print its pages for your own use, and use code examples from the documentation in your own configuration and scripts. When using the website, you agree not to:

  • try to get into password-protected areas, or interfere with the website, its servers or the download service (for example by attacking, overloading or probing them);
  • use automated tools to download releases repeatedly or to scrape the website in a way that puts a heavy load on it;
  • mirror the website or offer DiffScope downloads from another location;
  • use the website for anything unlawful.

The website and the information on it are provided for general information. We try to keep it accurate and up to date but may change, suspend or remove any part of it, including downloads of older versions, at any time.

How the website handles data is described in the privacy policy.

Names, logos and content

The DiffScope name and logo, the Software, and the text, screenshots and design of this website belong to DiffScope. All rights reserved. Journalists and reviewers may use the logos and screenshots from the press kit to write about DiffScope, following the guidelines on that page.

TortoiseGit, git, Beyond Compare, Windows and other names mentioned on this website are trademarks of their respective owners. Their mention does not mean that they endorse DiffScope or are affiliated with it.

No warranty

In plain English: DiffScope is free and comes with no guarantees. Always keep backups and use version control for files that matter, and review merge results before you commit them.

Limitation of liability

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties or liabilities to be excluded. In those places, the exclusions above apply only as far as the law allows, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be waived by contract.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The new version applies from the effective date shown at the top of this page. If you keep using the website after a change, you accept the updated terms.

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
